Want to create a Wellness Routine? Here's where you should start - Goal Setting Made Easy

Ah, September. Summer is over, the kids and grandkids are back out to school and soon it will be Christmas. This is the best time of the year to start setting goals for the months ahead. I have started planning for Christmas. I decide on what I am cooking, how I plan to get the house sorted, gifts I think my loved ones would like and who I can partner with in a charity drive.

This got me thinking about encouraging you to get started on the rest of the year. It is never too late to start. As a working wife and mother, I often neglect myself. I spend a lot of time preparing meals and trying to keep the house clean (you would swear I had babies), and sometimes it can be difficult to carve some time out for myself but I make sure I do. I am not sure where you are in your life. Are you retired, starting a family, or you are struggling with your health? Wherever you are you need to start setting goals to help you manage your days and months ahead.

I have a very simple call to action. I have given you 10 suggestions on what you can do for yourself over the next 4 months. Start with 2, stick with them and share your results with us.

Choose from the list below.

1. Self-Reflection: Know Your Goals

Before diving into any wellness routine, it's essential to take a moment for self-reflection. Ask yourself, "What are my wellness goals?" Is it to manage hormonal issues, reduce inflammation, lose weight, or simply feel better overall? Identifying your objectives will help you tailor your routine to meet your specific needs.

2. Balanced Nutrition: Fuel Your Body Right

A well-balanced diet is at the core of any effective wellness routine. As a health coach, you understand the importance of nutrition. Emphasize whole foods, lean proteins, plenty of vegetables, and healthy fats. For those looking to lose weight, focus on portion control and mindful eating. Keep in mind that what you put into your body directly impacts your hormones and inflammation levels. You can find some recipe ideas here.

3. Regular Exercise: Move with Purpose

Exercise is a vital component of wellness. Incorporate physical activity into your daily routine, whether it's a brisk walk, yoga, or strength training. Find activities you enjoy, as consistency is key. Exercise not only aids in weight management but also helps balance hormones and reduce inflammation.

4. Stress Management: Find Your Zen

Stress can wreak havoc on hormones and inflammation. Explore stress management techniques like meditation, deep breathing, or journaling. Encourage your clients to prioritize self-care and relaxation to maintain hormonal balance and reduce inflammation.

Quality sleep is often underrated but plays a significant role in overall wellness. Ensure your clients understand the importance of a consistent sleep schedule and creating a sleep-conducive environment. Adequate rest helps regulate hormones and supports weight management. 6. Stay Hydrated: Drink Up

Proper hydration is key to overall health. Be sure to drink enough water daily and to guide you as to how much is the right amount for you: women of average body weight need 2 Litres of water and men 3 litres. The greater the body weight the more water you need. Hydration supports digestion, and metabolism, and can aid in reducing inflammation. Water is also very necessary for brain health.

7. Accountability and Support: Seek Guidance

As a certified health coach, I am here to help and support you whether it's hormonal issues, weight loss, or inflammation management. You can also ask a friend or family member to hold you accountable for the goals you set for yourself.l Make sure they will not have to you and will call you out if they need to. If you decide to take up the challenge you can send me an email to let me know which 2 goals you have chosen and I can check in on you weekly or monthly, whichever you prefer, to see where you are at.

8. Start Small: Build Sustainable Habits

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a simple step. Use the S.M.A.R.T principle when setting your goals. If you are not too sure how to get that done, here is a goal-setting worksheet for you.

9. Track Progress: Celebrate Achievements

Keep a journal to track your progress. Celebrate your achievements, no matter how small and you don't always have to do this with food. Buy yourself a book, plan a day out or perhaps spend quality time with a loved one. Recognizing the positive impact of your wellness routine can be a powerful motivator.

10. Stay Informed: Keep Learning

In the ever-evolving field of health and wellness, staying informed is crucial. Continue your education and stay up-to-date with the latest research and trends.
